During the post-operative period, except for in those cases where complete bed rest is required, eye rest is limited to avoiding movements that could increase ocular pressure and vascular pressure as this would increase the chances of bleeding. Such movements include bending down, lifting weights, coughing and sneezing, and straining due to constipation. Despite what you may think, watching the television while sitting comfortably on a sofa in front of the screen is a very good resting position for post-operative care of the eye.
